With Wi-Fi calling, you can make or receive a phone call if you have a Wi-Fi connection in an area with little or no cellular coverage. The Wi-Fi Calling feature needs to be enabled before you can make a Wi-Fi Call. Follow the steps below to enable it.

You can find Apple's Full Guide on Wi-Fi Calling here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/108066

Enabling Wi-Fi Calling (iOS Version 18.1.1)

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular > Wi-Fi Calling. If your iPhone has multiple SIMs, choose a line (below SIMs)

  2. Tap Wi-Fi calling and turn it on.

  3. If prompted, click Enable when asked to confirm Wi-Fi calling.

  4. If prompted, you might need to enter or confirm your address for emergency services.
  5. You can now make a Wi-Fi Call.

If you are not able to make a call once Wi-Fi calling has been enabled, try turning off cellular service completely, then make a call. You can disable cellular service from the settings (Settings > Cellular >  Cellular Data, tap to turn off) or by putting your phone in airplane mode.

Emergency Address

When cellular service is available, your iPhone uses it for emergency calls. If you turn on Wi-Fi Calling and cellular service isn't available, emergency calls might use Wi-Fi calling. Your device's location may be used to aid response efforts when you place an emergency call, regardless of whether you enable Location Services.

If Wi-Fi Calling isn't working

If you can't turn on or use Wi-Fi Calling, make sure that your carrier offers Wi-Fi Calling and that your devices have the latest software.

If you're unable to turn on or use Wi-Fi Calling, your device software is up to date, and your carrier supports Wi-Fi Calling, contact your carrier.

If you contacted your carrier and can't turn on Wi-Fi Calling or make a Wi-Fi call, follow these steps. Wait two minutes before you go from one step to the next.

  1. Go to Settings > Cellular. If your iPhone has multiple SIMs, choose a line (below SIMs). Tap Wi-Fi Calling and make sure that Wi-Fi Calling is on.

  2. Restart your iPhone.

  3. Connect to a different Wi-Fi network. Not all Wi-Fi networks work with Wi-Fi Calling.

  4. Turn Wi-Fi Calling off and then on again.

  5. Go to Settings > General > Transfer or Reset iPhone > Reset.

  6. Tap Reset Network Settings.
