Bulk Operations Extensions

When dealing with large amounts of extensions, NocTel's Bulk Operations tools make life easier.

Step-by-step guide

The basics of Bulk Operations are the same.

1. Select your match Criteria. This will help you filter out specifically what you want to change. If you use this by itself it is a powerful search tool.
2. Select the operations you want to perform. These operations will affect the selection(s) made by your match criteria.
3. Click on Preview Bulk Operation
4. At this point, you can review and confirm that the correct selection was made and that the changes you want will be made.

5. If it is correct click on Begin Bulk Operation, otherwise click on Edit this Query to make adjustments.

Match Criteria 

By Class: Use to select a “class” of devices. Each extension in an account can be assigned a class. (You can use the bulk operation tool to assign classes or on an extension permissions page). Classes are usefully when you have certain sets of phones that need different permissions and functionality. Example: could have a set of Public Courtesy Phones that you want to disable international calling on. Having a class in which all public phones are members allows you to easy selected that class and make changes to all the extensions in that class.

• Any Class - selects every class.
• Only These Classes - selects specific classes

By Name: use to select a set of devices with a certain word in there extension name. can be thought of as a simpler version of the By Class search. If you have labeled all the phones it the sales department with “sales” in the extension names, you could make changes to them by using this criteria.

• Must Match - Here you can search for an extension based on its name. While not case sensitive, it is space sensitive, if you only search for part of the description you must include wildcards. For example, an extension name that reads: Uncle's Extension. If you searched Uncle you wouldn't get any results. But if you search %uncle% or %UNCLE% etc you would get results.
• Must NOT Match - Same rules as Must Match, but here you can exclude certain terms. Say you were searching for %Oregon% extensions but you didn't want anything from Portland, you would check the checkbox next to Must NOT Match and put in %portland% (again not case sensitive.

By Device Type: Use to select a set of devices based on the extension type. You can use this area to limit the criteria to a certain type of extension or to include all types.

• All: includes all Virtual and physical extension in the criteria.
• Any Virtual Extension: limits the criteria to only virtual extension
• Any Device Extensions: limits the criteria to only physical devices
• Device Extension of the Following Types: Allows you to selected one specific type or several.
  
  

By Extension Number: Use to select a set of extensions based on their numbers. Example: your account may have phones at different sites; Site A may have extension number 200-299 while site B may have extension numbered 300-399

• All:  Selects all extensions
• Only Unnumbered extensions:Selects only extension lacking a number
• Only Extension in the Following Ranges: Selects only extension within the range entered.
  
  

By Cloud Server: Use to select a set of extensions based on its server within the NocTel system. Each device/extension is assigned a primary and secondary server. For both primary and secondary servers, the drop down box will allow you to select Any, which selects extension on any server, or chose from the list of current servers used by your account for selection. Selecting a server will select only extensions that match that server.
