Routers

In order to use your NocTel Fiber services within your home, you will require a router.  A router separates the Internet from your home network and can add additional features to your connection, such as internal IP Address assignment, Internet security, and password protection.

Most routers for the home you can purchase today are a combo device that functions both as a router, firewall, and a Wi-Fi access point.

Selecting a router that will last should include features such as Gigabit network ports and 5GHz (802.3ac or 802.3ax) WiFi.

While WiFi is great for mobile devices, an ethernet cable can't be beat when connecting your TV, desktops or other stationary items to your Internet connection.

Most current routers available today will work for residential use, although we have compiled this list of our recommended home routers that existing NocTel Fiber customers are using.

Netgear Orbi RBK23 - 3 pack - $299/set - Great for multi-level homes or multiple buildings up to 6,000 sqft

Includes one router and 2 satellites.  Additional satellites can be added for even more coverage to support outbuildings.  NocTel recommends ethernet cabling between the router and satellites for best results.

Netgear Orbi AC2200 - 2 pack - $239/pack - Great for multi-level homes up to 3,000 sqft

Includes one router and 1 satellite.  NocTel recommends ethernet cabling between the router and satellite for best results.

Netgear Nighthawk AC1900 - $141/ea - Great for 2 story homes up to 2,000 sqft.

Switches

Sometimes additional Ethernet ports are needed.  Use one of the following switches after your router to connect additional devices inside your LAN:
