This guide covers how to make and set bell schedules in the Algo 8301 interface with use with Polycom/Poly paging groups. If you device is running older firmware click on the "For Firmware 3.2 or older" link under each section. 

Build a Schedule:

Begin by creating a schedule to be added to the calendar.


 For firmware 3.2.1 or Newer
  1. Log in to the Algo web interface via its IP address and credential.
  2. Click the Scheduler tab.


  3. Click the Schedules tab.



  4. Click the Create Schedule button to create a new schedule.



  5. Give the new schedule a name, in the schedule Name field.


  6. Give the new schedule a color by clicking the color swash next to the schedule name and selecting a color.
  7. Build a new schedule in the Current Schedule sections by clicking the Add Event button to add a new line to the list.


  8. For each Event enter the following info:
    • Event Description: name the bell/event
    • Time: enter the time the bell should play in 24 Hr format. (1 PM = 13:00).
    • Audio: Use the drop-down list to select a bell sound/tone.
    • Polycom Group: The Polycom Group should match the Paging Group number used for the speakers within the NocTel Portal that the bell will be played on. you can find the Paging Group numbers for a speaker by opening the speaker's extension options in the NocTel Talk Portal and expanding the Paging section. The extension shown below is in Paging Group 1 (Test) and Paging Group 25 (Emergency Test). Select the group that contains all the speakers you want the bell to be broadcast over.



  9. Click Save in the lower right once you have completed the schedule out the schedule.


 For Firmware 3.2 or older
  1. Log in to the Algo web interface via its IP address and credential.
  2. Click the Scheduler tab.


  3. Click the Schedules tab.



  4. Click the Plus (+) button to create a new schedule.



  5. Give the new schedule a name, in the schedule Name field.
  6. Give the new schedule a color by clicking the color swash next to the schedule name and selecting a color.
  7. Build the new schedule in the Current Schedule sections. Click the Plus (+) button to add a new line to the list.



  8. For each item/bell enter the following info:
    • Description: name the bell.
    • Time: enter the time the bell should play in 24 Hr format. (1 PM = 13:00).
    • Audio: Use the drop-down list to select a bell sound/tone.
    • Polycom Group: The Polycom Group should match the Paging Group number used for the speakers within the NocTel Portal that the bell will be played on. you can find the Paging Group numbers for the speaker by opening the speakers' extension's options in the NocTel Talk Portal and expanding the Paging section. The extension shown below is in Paging Group 1 (Test) and Paging Group 25 (Emergency Test). Select the group that contains all the speakers you want the bell to be broadcast over.



  9. Click Save in the upper right once you have filled out the schedule.



Apply a Created Schedule to Calendar Dates:

Once a schedule is created it can be applied to calendar dates in the Calendar tab.


 For firmware 3.2.1 or Newer
  • Click the Calendar tab. (if you have navigated away from the Scheduler tab, you will need to go back to the Scheduler tab first before the Calendar tab will be visible). 



  • Select the schedule you want from the drop-down list the top left. 



  • Schedules can be added to date with either the Single or Recurring option:
    • Single: allows adding the selected schedule to any date by clicking on the date. The schedule will be displayed in the selected schedule's color along with its name
    • Recurring: Brings up more options located at the bottom of the calendar:
      • Daily: Enter an end date in the end date field. Click on a starting date on the calendar. The selected schedule will be added to every day from the date clicked to the end date entered. 

      • Weekly: Click the days of the week the schedule will play. Use the Every week field to select if the schedule should repeat every week (1), every 2 weeks (2), and so on. Enter an end date in the end date field. Click on a starting date on the calendar. The selected schedule will be added to the selected days from the date clicked to the end date entered. 

      • Monthy: Enter an end date in the end date field. Click on a starting date on the calendar. The selected schedule will be added to every matching day of the month until the selected end date (for example every 11th of the month if, the 11th is clicked)

  • Click the Save button at the bottom right to save the schedule on the Calendar.

 For Firmware 3.2 or Older
  1. Click the Calendar tab. (if you have navigated away from the Scheduler tab, you will need to go back to the Scheduler tab first before the Calendar tab will be visible). 



  2. Select the schedule you want from the drop-down list next to schedule at the top left. 



    Click on a calendar date to add the schedule to that date. The schedule will be displayed in the selected schedule's color along with its name. You can also use the All Weekdays or ALL buttons to add the selected schedule to the current calendar month shown. 
  3. Use the  < arrow or > arrow buttons to switch between different months. 
  4. Click the Save button at the top right to save the bell schedule.

Clearing a Schedule from a Calendar Date:

If an incorrect schedule has been added to a calendar date, it can be removed by selecting "None (clear)" from the schedule drop-down list and then clicking the calendar date.


Firmware 3.2.1 or Newer

The None (clear) option for removing schedules from the calendar can be used with the recurring option, to delete schedules from multiple dates. Using this option will delete all schedules from the selected dates. 


Troubleshooting Notes:

If your newly created schedule is not playing here are a couple of items to check:

  • In the NocTel Portal make sure Paging is enabled for the extensions you want the bell schedule to be played on and that the correct Polycom/pol group is applied to extensions for receiving pages. 


  • Ensure that the Algo 8301's Multicate mode is set to Transmitter (sender) under Basic Settings > Multicast > Multicast Mode
