How to port an existing phone number to your NocTel account.

Step-by-step guide

Start the Porting Process

  1. From the NocTel control panel click on 'Numbers".
  2. From the Numbers screen click on the middle link titled 'Port an Existing Number'.
  3. This screen contains important information about the porting process, please take a moment to go over the information.
  4. At the bottom of the screen you can input the number or numbers you want to port to your NocTel account.  When finished, click the 'Continue' button.
  5. Now you should see the number or numbers you wish to port with a 'Action Required' status, click on the first number with that status.
  6. The requested ported number will be in the description line.  You can name the line description to what works best for you.
  7. Below the description your rate information is displayed.
  8. Below the rate information is the option to route this number to any of your existing extensions.
  9. Below the extension routing drop down you can set the Caller ID Name.  This will be what is displayed in caller id to the people and business that receive calls from you.
  10. In the next section you will want to upload a current copy of your bill, if possible, please provide a PDF file format copy of the bill.
  11. Once all of your information is complete and the document or documents are uploaded, please press the 'Submit & Upload' button.
  12. If you have entered a number in error or wish to cancel the process, please click the 'Remove this number' link next to the 'Submit & Upload' button.
  13. Shortly after submitting your number port request you will receive an email at your account specified email address asking you to download, complete, sign and return the Letter of Authorization.

  14. To ensure the fastest porting process, we recommend submitting the signed Letter of Authorization electronically through our website. To do so, just log in to your NocTel account, click on Numbers, click on +1 503.941.0718, and you will be given the option to upload a file there. Acceptable formats are PDF, PNG, JPG, or TIFF, at least 150dpi. If you are unable to submit electronically, you may fax the completed form to us at FAX: 503.200.1010 or mail it to:

    Please be aware that mailing or faxing may cause significant delays in the number porting process. For the fastest processing time, we recommend submitting the form electronically.

  15. To check the status of your port request click on 'Numbers' from the NocTel control panel and choose the 'Porting Status' tab.
